Module 1 — Introduction & History of Biomagnetism
What Biomagnetic Pair Therapy is, where it came from, and how to approach this training.
- What the “biomagnetic pair” is and what the method claims to do
- The story of Dr. Isaac Goiz Durán and the discovery of the first pair
- How the method differs from ordinary magnet therapy
- An honest picture of the scientific status of the practice
1.1 What is Biomagnetic Pair Therapy?
Biomagnetic Pair Therapy — known in Spanish as Biomagnetismo Médico or Par Biomagnético, and in English as Medical Biomagnetism or the Biomagnetic Pair (BMP / PBM) — is a complementary practice that uses pairs of medium-strength permanent magnets placed on specific points of the body. Practitioners hold that many disturbances of health are expressed as two linked regions of abnormal pH — one too acidic, one too alkaline — and that placing magnets of opposite polarity on these two points at the same time helps the body return them toward a neutral, balanced state.
The defining idea is the pair. Rather than resting a single magnet on a sore spot, the practitioner first “scans” the body to locate two resonating points, then treats them together as a unit. This course teaches the full method: the theory behind it, the anatomy of the points, the scanning technique, the treatment protocol, and a complete illustrated reference of the pairs themselves.
1.2 Dr. Isaac Goiz Durán and the first pair
The method traces to 1988, when Dr. Isaac Goiz Durán, a physician working in the Mexico City area, described what he called the par biomagnético. The pivotal influence on his thinking was Dr. Richard Broeringmeyer, an American researcher who had studied the effects of magnetic fields on living tissue and proposed that organs could become “magnetically polarized” in association with local pH changes. Goiz attended a bioenergetics course taught by Broeringmeyer and returned inspired to experiment with pairs of magnets rather than the single magnets standard in magnet therapy at the time.
According to the modality’s history, Goiz located his first biomagnetic pair between the thymus and the rectum — two anatomically distant points he proposed were resonating together and jointly disturbing the immune system. From that single observation he went on to catalogue what practitioners describe as hundreds of pairs mapped across the body. Goiz taught the method to thousands of students internationally and built a large practitioner community across Latin America, Europe and the United States. He died in March 2021; the practice continues to be taught and expanded by his successors.
1.3 How it differs from ordinary magnet therapy
Practitioners are careful to distinguish Biomagnetic Pair Therapy from conventional static-magnet therapy (magnetic bracelets, a single magnet on an ache):
| Ordinary magnet therapy | Biomagnetic Pair Therapy |
|---|---|
| A single magnet applied locally to symptoms | Two magnets of opposite polarity on two resonant points, at the same time |
| No diagnostic step | A “scanning” step (rastreo) locates specific pairs first |
| Aims at local pain or circulation | Aims at pH balance and pathogen environments systemically |
| Continuous low-strength wear | Medium-to-high strength magnets applied for a limited time |
1.4 How to use this course
Work through the eight modules in order. Modules 1–2 build the conceptual foundation; Modules 3–4 cover the poles and the magnets; Module 5 introduces the pairs and how they are organised; Modules 6–8 teach the hands-on protocol and scanning technique. The Reference Library then gives you an illustrated, searchable atlas of every pair drawn from the classic Libro de Pares Biomagnéticos, translated into English and mapped onto the body.
Important
This training presents Biomagnetic Pair Therapy faithfully, as its practitioners teach it. The modality’s claims are not validated by mainstream science and it is not a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment. Study it as a complementary practice and always refer serious conditions to a licensed physician.
A note on honesty and scope
Being a good practitioner includes being truthful with clients. Biomagnetic Pair Therapy is a complementary and alternative practice, not a scientifically validated medical treatment. Its central claims have not been confirmed by controlled clinical trials, and several of its premises conflict with established biology, physics and chemistry. Many people report feeling better after sessions — relaxation, attention and expectation are real effects — but subjective improvement is not proof of a specific mechanism or cure. Throughout this course we describe the method accurately and flag its evidence status plainly. Never present it as a replacement for medical care, and never advise a client to stop prescribed treatment. Module 7 covers precautions and safe scope of practice in detail.
